Fill Their Freezer is a year-round community program created by Stephenson County Scanner and Harbach’s Meats to help local families facing tragedy, loss, or unexpected hardship.
When something devastating happens, everyday expenses do not stop. Groceries still need to be bought, meals still need to be made, and families still need to eat. Fill Their Freezer was created to take one small but meaningful burden off their shoulders.
Donations go directly to Harbach’s Meats, where the funds remain as store credit for approved families. Selected families may designate up to two approved people to pick up meat using their available credit.
Community members can donate any amount, whether it is $5, $20, $100, or more. Every contribution helps put food in the freezer of a local family when they need support most.
Anyone may nominate themselves or another family through a short, confidential application process. Assistance is based on available funding and individual circumstances.
Harbach’s Meats is located at 6444 US Route 20 between Freeport and Lena.
