Sept 7 - Pearl City Man Killed in Loran Road Crash

Updated: Sep 11
A 22-year-old Pearl City man has died following a serious crash early Sunday morning on W. Loran Road.
The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Tyson C. Clark, 22, of Pearl City. Clark suffered severe injuries in the crash and died while being transported to a medical facility.
Deputies were dispatched around 2:21 a.m. September 7 to W. Loran Road near S. Lott Road after receiving an iPhone crash detection alert. A deputy arrived to find a heavily damaged Ford sedan in a ditch and approximately 15 cattle in the roadway. Investigators say the vehicle had been traveling eastbound when it struck multiple cattle before leaving the road.
Three people were inside the vehicle and all suffered severe injuries. Kade R. Knoup, 25, of Pearl City, was transported by medical helicopter and remained hospitalized with life-threatening injuries as of the Sheriff’s Office’s Tuesday update. Travis L. Kaney, 25, of Freeport, was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Two cattle died in the crash and two others were euthanized because of their injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office.
For Pearl City, this is more than another traffic fatality. It is the loss of a young member of a small community where connections run deep. Our thoughts are with Tyson Clark’s family and friends, as well as Kade Knoup, Travis Kaney and everyone affected by the crash.
